Still having an electrical issue with my RMK

Ok so I got a 2009 700 RMK. Started acting up at the end of the season, all the gauges would go out after running for a little while. Talked to a polaris mechanic, he said probably was my regulator. So I got a new regulator, put it in, ran it a few times everything seemed to be fine.

Now, flash forward to when there's actually snow and I can ride, start it up, seems to run fine for a while, just warming it up. Then the idle drops way down, starts clicking almost like it's in limp mode, and after RPM's drop to 800 - 900 in there some where gauges go out again. Give it a little gas to get the rpm's back up and everything comes back to life, guages and stops clicking.

Anyone have an idea? I tried calling the guy again but all I got was voicemail, so I left a message, but while I'm waiting I figured I'd see if anyone on here has an idea.

Did the idle stay up after you cracked the throttle?

Check for slop in the throttle cable .. I have a buddy that had that problem a couple years ago and that's what it turned out to be. His was idling to low once the warm up was complete and gauges acted funny and didn't want to go in reverse.

service manual download here... it says 1500 rpm idle I believe.

Ok so after checking around I've come up with a couple possibilities.

One being that the stator has cracks in it, and as the engine warms the cracks widen, thus losing power.

Second possibility is the TPS is acting up. Heard this as a possibility from two different sled mechanics. One of which apparently has the same thing going on and he's busy working on it right now. Which is nice because if it is the same thing, he'll know exactly what to do and that will save me money 'cause they wont have to monkey around to much figuring out wtf is going on.

I'm going to take the sled down to the mechanic this Wednesday, but they're 3 to 4 days out so wont get it back till next week. So... I lose this weekend to ride. But! hopefully everything will be in working order when I get it back and I'll be ready to rock.

Also taking the old regulator down with me that I swapped out and going to have them test it to see if it really was bad... or if it was this other problem all along and I basically wasted $150 on a regulator that I didn't really need. Even if that is the case, I'll have an extra sitting around in case I really do have a regulator go out at some point in time.

Glad you got it fixed! Not too spendy, either.
