new 2012 rush.. pre-mix oil question. did dealer screw up?
just picked up my new rush today.. was talking to the mechanic who put sled all together... I asked about the pre-mix and he said he put about 5 gallons in the tank, and he put 10 oz of blue oil.. said he puts more then poo recommends and I can top off tank with gas and be fine... I didn't add gas yet... when I got home the book says 16 oz of oil per 5 gallons of gas... alittle bit afraid that either he put too little oil with the gas, or he really put 16 oz in and wasn't sure and told me 10 oz... either way what should I do? should I assume he was right and only put in 10 and add 6 more ounces? if I add 6 more ounces and he really had 16 oz in there will I destroy motor by now having it too rich? or should I figure out how to drain all the gas and refill it myself? I don't want to hurt motor... he also topped off the injector tank with Polaris GOLD... scared of that too because he told me gold is already in there from factory, but from reading this board its really blue... what damage is now happening by him filling out and topping oil with the gold??? I now believe I have blue and gold mixed in the oil jug and sled has zero miles on it...this is my first new sled, just dont want any problems....he is the only POO dealer around..reputable...thank you

Polaris blue and gold mix just fine with each other. If he put in 10 oz with 5 gallons of gas, that's a 60:1 ratio that is in the tank. The oil injector will also be delivering oil, probably at 50:1 average. You will be oiling at about 27:1. The only "damage" is the potential for fouling a plug.
If the dealer is reputable, I'd trust him and go on his recommendations. JMHO

A new sled should have two pints of Polaris blue oil premixed with full tank of fuel. Also should fill the oil tank with blue for first fill then switch to gold. The oil in the tank from factory is gold in color but is actually Polaris blue they just take the dye out so it doesnt stain the tank. The blue is a synthetic blend to help with break in and then should switch to full synthetic gold.
This is what Polaris recommends

so polaris tech
if he filled with gold and topped of container, is this still ok? or do I somehow drain the oil jug and go with all blue? seems odd that my dealer would tell me its gold from factory and fill it with more gold

What Polaristech said is what I used to do at the dealer. The polaris gold is too slippery for breaking in of the bearings. We had to drain 17 sleds one day when Polaris failed to tell us what to prep them with luckily they refunded us all the oil back so it wasn't a total loss.

so what should I do? should I drain the oil jug and fill it to top with blue? im not very handy, whats the easiest way to drain the oil jug in this beast? and how far should I drain it without any air bubble issues? once it is drained, how much blue do I put in? and when do I switch to gold? I cant believe this dealer would not know that is Polaris blue and think its gold..he sells tons and tons of sleds per season..

Honestly u might never have a problem but if u want peace of mind u might want to suck the oil out of the reservoir and replace it with blue. U run the first tank of premixed through and that is considered your break in period. And after u run down the blue in the oil tank then u add the gold. I would try to find an oil extractor if u can find one. I would remove down to the add oil line at least. As long as remove most of the oil in a clean tank u will be fine and then u can use the gold oil later after break in.

I bought siphon hose/oil change pump from wal Mart that works good. Made by Pennzoil. Only $7. Just for this type of stuff. Just a hand pump for removing fluid.

For what it is worth... Break in on an Arctic Cat uses synthetic. You will be just fine. It will take a little longer to break in with synthetic but I don't go only half throttle for so long. I just vary the throttle a lot for the first tank without long wide open bursts. Second tank gets more wide open bursts and harder running. 3rd tank, game on!
