'91 Indy Chain Case Removal

I'm having problems removing the chaincase on my '91 Indy Classic. Chain and sprockets are off, as well as the 3 nuts on the outside of the case, and the 1 nut inside the case. I also have the 4 bolts removed from the top that hold the brake caliper on. Shouldn't the case just slide off the jackshaft and driveshaft? Thank you in advance.

Should slide off, sometimes you need to use a rubber mallet and tap it.

I work on Indys all the time and always have the same problem. You do have everything off, but the case always gets frozen to the driveshaft. Just be careful and take your time. In the past I have used a pry bar and wedged it between the back of the case and the tunnel and slowly work it back and forth to free it up. As I said, be careful. I have broken tons of chaincases in the past trying to remove them

Thanks for the tips, I worked at it last night for a little while. The bottom (driveshaft) is free, but it's the top shaft that's giving me the problem. I soaked it with PB Blaster a couple times, but won't be back at it until tomorrow night. I didnt have a soft hammer, so I ran a bolt and washer in and tapped on that a little too. Will keep you posted. Any other ideas will be appreciated. Thanks!

Use a block of wood in place of rubber mallet.
