Bottom end Bog 03 edge 800
Hey guys, I have a 2003 Polaris Vertical Edge 800 with a 159 track. I am running Twin slp pipes, SLP big horn air intake, We ride at 8-11000 feet. I am running a 340 main jet> so I am at home at about 4400 feet and I started it today after putting the twin pipes on, and it isnt very crisp on the bottom end, it is pretty boggy. I did start my sons 2001 800 with a single pipe and his is very crisp and responsive. My sled is idleing about 1100 rpm, is that too low. My sons was about 2000. Also what do i need to adjust on the carb to be more responsive on the bottom end. It has 45 pilot jets, e clip is 2nd from the top, air screw is about 1 turn out, and the fuel screw is about 1 1/4 turns out. Does anybody have any ideas? I really need it to be more responsive. Any help is greatly appreciated, Bruce

340s? My 2002 Edge 700 with Single SLP, Air Horn, etc. was 540s.
Are you following SLPs info regarding jetting? Seems rich which is some of your symptoms

Can't compare a 2002 to a 2003, the needle is completely different and jetting is a lot smaller in the 03. That said, 340 is good at 8000-10000 at 30 to 50 degrees, so your jetting is a lot lean for riding in the high country if it's cold. 8000-10000 shows a 380, 10000-12000 is a 350, both with the needle in the second position. At 4000, you should be running at least a 440 jet. Careful running that 340, that's WAY lean for 4k feet.

Ok ill be careful not to run it too much at home, i may richen it up a bit. I did call SLP and he told me to run the 340 for the elevation we are riding at, but probably should run it up there with that lean of a jet. So back to the initial question about my throttle response. Any tips on tuning it, Where is a good place to start with the air and fuel screws, How many turns out are you guys running? that bag is driving me crazy. Also what should my idle rpm be? Thanks for the responses

Try two out on the fuel, one out on the air. Idle should be about 1500 RPM. With an idle of 1100, it will stumble a bit.

twin pipes are nothing but a headache you can have it running perfect one day and it will be a pig the next or blow up atmoshere changes affects there jetting alot more and they have a smaller power band than the single pipe so the bog is more noticable but it takes alot of time and tuning to get a happy medium with twins.your best bet is to find someone who has them for that sled and has already got it down
