extending fuel lines

I have my engine out for a rebuild and want to relocate the fuel pump to,somewhere more accessable. Is there a limit on how far the pump can be from the tank or how long the lines from the pump to carbs can be?
Also while I have the motor apart are there any mods to incease performance such as timing advance, shaved head, etc.? It's a 89 650 w slp pipes. It's apart for seals, and hone/new rings. I know on my banshee I have timing advanced 4 degrees & a dune port.

i dont believe it matters, as long as fuel can be pumped. also make sure your carb jets match what slp suggests for the pipes. bigger expansion chambers (pipe) = more fuel.

It has 310s now up from 260 stock. Might have to drop with the new seals as it had a bad leak on pto side. Those 310s bein a lil fat might've saved my topend.

Just a guess but id imagine that the pulse line will work best if its shorter. I relocated my fuel pump tho last week. My original was having a problem and it was mounted under the engine so I didn't want to take the engine out just to replace a pump so I trimmed my airbox a little with a Dremel and mounted my new fuel pump under it
