2000 polaris xc sp coil spring
Hi everyone
Just bought my first sled. It has a broken coil spring. I purchased new springs and need a little help installing them.
Is this something I can do?
Do I need to pull the skid out to replace them?
If not do I still loosen the track.
Either way once I get to that point how do I pull the springs off?
Any help would be great.
Videos, instructional web pages, pics or whatever.
Thanks in advance.

Which spring is broken? The one on the shock or one of the torsion springs? When you use "springs", I'm thinking it's the torsion spring that is broken. Is that correct?

You'll need to loosen the track, then remove the rear tunnel bolts on both sides so you can drop the rear of the skid. Your idler will come off allowing you access to the spring.

When you are ready to reinstall the skid, attach a ratchet strap around the suspension. With the springs installed, the holes won't align; you can tighten/loosen the strap to compress/expand the suspension to align the bolt holes with the tunnel.

Great that doesn't sound too bad. I've watched some videos of people removing the skid from the track but didn't see any taking off the springs.
1.So I loosen the track tension bolts and the bolts that go thru the rear wheels (Sorry not sure what those are called).
2. Loosen the rear tunnel bolts (Or do I remove them at this point?)
3. Raise the rear end
4. Remove the idler (Not sure what that is but I'm sure I'll figure it out)
5.Remove the broken spring and replace it with the new one. Both sides
6. Replace the idlers
7. Use a ratchet strap to compress the springs so I can get the tunnel bolts back in.
8. Tighten up the track bolts.
Sound right? Am I forgetting anything?
Thank you for the help!!

Remove the rear tunnel bolts completely. The idler wheel sits on the inside of the tunnel behind the rear bolts. Should be black. It will all make sense once you start.

Thanks everyone sorry for the long delay. Everything went well. It was a little bit tricky getting the tunnel bolts back in. Tough finding a good place for the strap to compress everything. All and all not a bad job.
While I was under there I found that a bolt is missing for one of the inside wheels. I ordered a new bolt, shaft and a little 17 dollar metal spacer that goes on the outside rail. Now can I remove the old shaft without pulling the skid out?
