Track Rubbing on 98 Indy 500 Any thoughts????

I just picked up a 98 indy 500. It has a new 1inch track on it with no studs. But i just noticed that that track is rubbing on the tunnel protectors. Is the track to big for that sled? or can I just remove the factory aluminum protectors? Any help or ideas would be great.

Thanks

Raise the tunnel. If you ever want to run stud you want those tunnel protectors there

^ how the heck would you raise the tunnel? I can see dropping the rear bolts to the lower holes but it will still rub up front

You lower the skid in the front too, then you have to readjust the spring preloads to maintain good handling.

Most Indys only have one hole up front from factory. So he would have to drill another. And if he mounts the front of the skid too low than it will teeter on the back and the skis won't touch ground much.

Front mounting plate usually has 2-3 extra holes below the original mounting hole so that you can drop the front and you'll have to drill out the tunnel to use them. You'll have to loosen the track tension and re-adjust track. The more you drop the front the steeper the attack angle of the track will be which might hurt your ability to get up on the snow. We always dropped the front two holes on the XC-100 suspensions but I never did anything to the xtra-10's but will on the one I'm sticking under the 91 Indy 500 I'm building now.
