1988 Indy 650
Triple Decker Pipes
Clutched to 6000 rpm
Gutted Air Box

VS

2001 Indy 700 Classic....Stock

Thoughts????

What else is done to the 650? Is the clutches synced for the pipes? Just bumping engagement doesn't do much. Also is it jetted correctly? IMO the 650 should win but it all depends on how well each person hooks up and there weight. The 700 will be snappy out of hole but it should be a good race I think. I'm not impressed with the 700 motors.

well, ive ridden with a 700 classic, and
they arent bad.
is the race on a lake, or thru the twisties?

Yes the 650 is setup correctly. It was an ice racer built in the early 90's. I found a few old magazine articles and verified the build as far as jetting/clutching to deckers specs.

Both riders are 190lb

tracks are pretty comparable, 700 might be a little better.

Anyhow I bought the 650 for $150 and its in real nice shape. I just think its fun to mess with people with newer sleds.

If the 650 runs perfect and setup is spot on - 650 all the way .. you know what they says, triples have a longer legs. WL
