2002 RMK shock - interchangeability?

Banged up some parts on my 2002 RMK 800 - 151 tracked sled up last winter. Its about to be snowing here in Lake Tahoe, so naturally its time to fix the winter toys.

I am in a pickle looking for some shocks for my sled. I have no problem with used, oem, and potentially even a little rusty shocks. I am 99% sure the ones on my sled are stock. They have black bodies, gray adjusters and red springs. Now my issue is finding a proper, and cheap, replacement shock.

So my question is: What year shocks will fit into my 2002 RMK?

Ive found these guys on ebay:
B 99 Polaris RMK 550 Trail Red Front Shock Suspension | eBay

C 01 Polaris RMK 800 Front Shocks Suspension | eBay

Will either of them work/What year/model do I need to search for?

The 2001 should be a Gen II suspension with an Xtra-10 or Xtra-lite. The 99 is probably an evolved with the xtra-10. Those probably won't work, as your sled has an Edge suspension. According to the Polaris parts diagrams, there were two different shocks for the Edge RMK's in 02; one for the sleds built before 3-1-01 and one for sleds built after 3-1-01. There were no other usages for that part number. But if you browse for the 2003 RMK 800, it shows usage in the 700 and 800's from 02 to 05. You should be ok getting those, but I would check dimensions against your shocks to be sure.

Thanks for always having all the info Dan!

My next question is about replacing the belly pan. Is that doable without removing the motor and everything under the hood? It appears that I might be able to drill out the rivets and yank the pan from the bottom and replace them with some self tapping screws.

I haven''t had to do one on an Edge, but I'm pretty sure you can do it without removing the engine. I would use rivets, they don't come loose and fall out. Use stainless steel ones and find someone that has a pneumatic rivet puller so you don't end up with popeye arms
