1998 indy 500 classic crank

Bought this sled in 2001 with about 2k miles on it. Now it's got about 11k
Never touched the engine(fuji 500)

Last winter motor developed a bad 'clunking' sound.
I parked it and am just getting around to trying to fix(or swap the motor).
I've topend all torn down and looks decent for 11k miles.
No scoring on cylinder walls etc(in fact can still see the cross hatching a little.
Anway, I think I've got a crank problem, but have never worked on the bottom ends of these motors.

If I rotate the clutch ever so slightly, I can see the first section of the crank move with the clutch(on the clutch side of the rod), but the rest of the crank does NOT move.
I'm assuming this is my problem and is either a bearing or maybe a broken pin?

Can anyone confirm that this is in fact NOT good?

Also, has anyone had any experience with a rebuilt crank? Recommendations?

I'm kinda stuck between
-should I get this rebuilt
OR
-should I just try to find a good replacement engine.

Thx in advance

Definitely sounds like a serious issue. If your case is good, a new crank would fix it. But with that many miles, I would be looking for a good used engine. There are a gazillion 500 Fuji engines out there, it's the most prolific engine Polaris ever used, so finding a good one shouldn't be too difficult. If you get a nice one complete, you can sell your cylinders and other usable parts to offset some of the cost...

Yeah. I was concerned about the case myself.
I don't know for sure yet what that 'clunking' noise was,
but I am concerned I might have damaged the case.

Good idea on reselling some of the good parts.
Thx for the input

You have a broken crank pin like I have pictured in my avatar. Not uncommon on the 500 Fugi, I fix three or four a year. Cases are usually OK, I haven't needed to replace one yet.
