Ok... no progress on the Ultra motor yet,but all parts are here. All my spare time was focused on the 2003 600 HO REV 136" (was my fathers sled) & getting it ready. It started with draining the old fuel out of it ,but as there was no starting this thing I had to dig deaper.Took fuel pump out & inspected it ,all good. Did some resurch on these skidoo's & found out the reed valves with the molded boots had a problem of delapatating ,cracking & ,or blistoring. So I inspected & sure enough they were ,reeds had a slight arc to them ,some not completly closed .Well... to top it all off I decided to do a copmression test & it reads 100lbs. on both cylinders. Man... what kind of luck do I have!?
Frustration set in... so I just put the sled back together for the second time & after that I decided to give it a try & turn it over . She fired up... hmmm.I don't even know what I did to fix it ? All I know is the 100lbs. dosen't look good ,the pistons are not scored that I can see through the intakes. there was ring issues on these sleds that I know .3900km.on it, So another motor top end job? Wiseco piston kit & Boysen reeds I'm thinking is in order ?

OK... finally a little update on the ULTRA motor.Monday was a day off for me so got the water pump rebuilt (time consuming litte sucker),also pulled the pto bearings off & did the hot & cold method since I don't have a press. Worked pretty awsome I thought ! Little messy though ,cause after you have to get rid of all the frost before it turns into rust on the crank & bearings ! WD-40 , carb cleaner & then WD-40 the hole thing again did the trick though.
Shee's time to put the crank in it's home. Photobucket is giving me some greef to down lod some pics & a vid for you guy's

SHE"S FINALLY RUNNING !!! Yesterday at approx. 4:00pm The Ultra was alive on all three cylinders. Before fireing it took compression on the rebuild here's the numbers PTO 120psi , CENTER 122psi , MAG 120psi . Now to break it in ,will take another reading after first tank hot & cold .Stay tuned! foot & half fresh powder on top of a foot of base here now should be fun!

About the frost on the crank bearings. I have heard from friends that you pour tons of 2 cycle oil over the bearings and wrap the whole thing in plastic wrap before puting it in the freezer. This keeps the frost off.

WL - I hope the Polaris Ultra will do the job this winter,The new thottle cable is not quite giving me enough play at the bars .I mean ,the thottle only opens to 3/4 thottle ,& all carbs are at the top .
The 2003 Rev was calling me on Sunday ,finally got it going after boosting the batery (elec. start) .She seemed to run fine for a 50 mile ride ,but after being stopped for a short time she did not like to be started. The compression was a 100lbs. both sides & full choke every time to get her going again.Well long story short 4 blocks from home she locked up.I'm thinkining broken ring ,or piston skirt ?I can only rock the clutch back & forth about a quarter turn . Should of left it on the trailer until untill I could of did the top end ,without the damage.... The DEVIL made me do it.

You know something (WL) ,for a 17 year old sled she's still looks good to me anyway.Sure.... the newer ones look & ride awesome too ,but for $12,000 to $15,000 vs $1200 to $1500 here in Canada. Either the guy's around here will go..."what's that sound "? or go " hey look at this thing pulling up ... it's as old as I am" . So far everyone thats seen it, likes it.
Polaris did something back in the day & I think it still stands today. Never let me down on the trail yet (knock on wood),but the doo's ... total is 3 now.

I hear ya about the new sleds today - I came so close to buy a brand new '12 RUSH 600 for 7,300 back in Feb. I didnt feel right (I guess its safe to say that I didnt want to have payments and have the sled sitting in the garage til we get some snow - we still dont have snow yet, can u believe that) So a week later, I found a very good deal on a good used sled .. '06 Fusion 600HO with 850miles in near mint condition for $2,800 - 144studs, full sled cover, hooker bars, storage bag - a few extras. Now Im glad I bought this sled instead of a RUSH. Can you tell ... I love POLARIS WL
PS - you can see the pic - its a red/black on the right side of the pic. My buddy bought that black/blue about 3weeks before I bought mine. Nice combo

I wont reveal my age although I tell ppl I am 35 (13yrs ago) and they would believe me. Youre about 2,124miles from me, according to the mapquest - awesome that you got a good amt of snow to do some riding. Hows the ULTRA running so far? WL.

Well....the Ultra is still siting in my brothers garage all toasty warm, only did a couple test runs 2 weekends ago approx.1 mile .Needs either some more adjusting with the cables or the cable block (4 into 1) is to short ,cause my throttle lever only can be pulled 3/4 of the way then stops (new aftermarket cable)? The part # matchs the cataloge #'s ,not to sure whats going on?
Still have to break in the Ultra ,minus -28 celceus (-35 with wind chill as of yesterday)

Ya... I guess I'm lucky on the snow situation,& the beutiful whore frost on the trees for the passed three days.Just makes it all picture purfect.
I did forget to mention ,I did have a situation with the Ultra before the test run a couple weekends ago,the PTO side cylinder kept on flooding out only running on two cyl. headscracher at the least.Turned out after taking that carb off on the pto side, one of floats had a hair line crack .The extra carbs came in handy from the other motor.
I couldnt help myself yesterday... on my lunch break I hade to see how the Ol'girl would start...full choke & a 1/4 pull & that baby started up She looks good standing still ! Might give her a wax job today & even take her out .
