79 Cobra runs great, now another problem!

My problem was the needle was sticking closed, not allowing fuel into the bowls. Solved.

Now I can get the engine to run nicely, but the right carb keeps trying to fall out! I push it in and tighten it, and it just sags and pops out! I can twist it to the side, and back up and it seems to hold in better, for a second!

Any tricks? Or access to new carb boots?

Also what size pod filters for the keihins on the 78 cobra 440 fan cooled?

All questions and no answers from me! Sorry

they shouldn't be Keihins, they should be Mikuni carbs. Check with Dennis Kirk on the filter pods

there should be a "gold" colored clamp, or a hose clamp around the carb mount, this is what holds the carb in place. if not there you can get one at your local Napa, CarQuest, Advanced Auto....whatever you may have in your area.

if the clamp is there, back it off so it's sitting on the carb flange loosely and your able to move it around easily. if the carb goes into it easily by twisting the carb east to west Great, Push it all the way in till it seats FIRMLY into the flange and that touches the back of the carb. then make sure its straight. Then tighten the clamp down. Tight enough so you can not move that carb in the flange without turning the flange a bit as well.

If the carb does NOT slide in easily, a little spray lube on the rubber portion will help lots

you can use WD40, JB80 Hell, I've used spit....LOL something just enough to moisten up the rubber to make it slippery.

Hope that helps

Sorry keihins are off my bike that I'm working on. Yep, mikuni's.

They slide in just fine, and the left one stays in no problem.

I have clamps for them, I think that right side might just be worn out or something, like the rubber lip is not there. I'll give it another go.
