Grease fittings

I'm new to this... I'm greasing all my fittings (nipples) on my sled with my grease gun. I notice alot of grease flowing out of a few fittings (not sure if any grease is getting inside), and that my gun doesn't click solidly into the fittings(this seems like a problem with all my fittings on the sled-so I push the nozzle of the grease gun hard with my hand onto the fitting)... so do I need new fittings? Or is my grease gun nozzle the wrong size? are they plugged? or any tips would be great.

I notice the same thing happening with my polaris atv...

i have had similar issues with cheap or worn guns. you can buy just the end or even a hose with a new end for cheap.

sometimes the zirks are just flat plugged and need replaced or cleaned, but from your description it sounds like your gun isnt making a positive contact.

in a pinch, you can do some interesting manuevers by holding the gun tight to the zirk with one hand and using body parts to support the tube while pumping with the free hand. chest, belly, thighs, etc. been there, done that, prior to getting new fittings for the grease gun.

There could also be a lot of really old dead grease in the shaft, sometimes taking a heat gun or hair dryer and heating up the shaft will soften up the old grease and allow the new stuff to push the old out... it's worth a try. If that fails, you may have to remove the suspension and remove all the cross shafts of old grease before the new can get in there. If you do that, take pictures so you know how the suspension is supposed to go back together!

I had the same issue, it was a bad grease gun tip. if its happening on every zirk on 2 different machines, it has to be a bad grease gun tip. YOu can fine a new tip w/ hose for around $8-10 anywhere. Or if your grease gun is old and/or cheap, just buy a new better one. Of course, some of your zirks may be bad but you will know for sure after fixing the grease gun.
