Do I have to change my starter jet?

04 RMK 700 Vertical Escape. I'm installing an SLP pipe, yesterday I pulled my carbs out to clean and rejet them. I'm using SLP's jetting chart, so I changed main jets to MAG-340, PTO-330, #2 position on needle. They said to keep stock pilot air jet which is a 45, so I did.

They don't say anything about changing the starter jet, which is a 145. Should I change this jet? I also installed SLP air horn kit and 2 Flow Rites.

I'm jetting the led for 9000-12000 feet, and temps between 10-40 degrees.

Oh and who is the idiot at Mikuni who decided it would be a good idea to use a screw made of butter on the float bowl? I had the same issue with the screws on the Mikuni carb in my dirt bike. I ended up having to cut those screws off with a dremel. Unbelievable-I'd like to give that guy a piece of my mind.

You shouldn't have to change the starter jet. It's not much of a player after the engine is running. If the engine starts easily, there is no need to change.

Okay, I started it yesterday after I changed the main jets and it started easy enough. Thanks for the help.

You're welcome! You are going to like the SLP pipe, it adds power, reduces weight, and sounds great without being obnoxiously loud! Now for the LONG wait until next season.. unless you are in the west, there's still guys riding here

Wow! You guys must have had a good winter out there. I'm in SW Colorado in the Durango area. I was out riding this weekend-on my dirt bike. I was up above treeline, in an area that I do a lot of snowmobiling in. There was nothing left for snow-a little bit on the north facing slopes and some in the thick pockets of trees, but other than that it's melted off quick this spring.

This winter was a little below average for us though. I'm hoping we get buried next winter so I can take full advantage of all the work I'm doing on the sled during the off season.

There are some diehards that are riding in Central Oregon and in Washington, still a lot of snow up high. I think I'm done, although there's a Memorial Day ride that's always a lot of fun. (Don't take the good skis )
