heat temp probe?? do i need it for it to run good?

i have a 96 ultra sp 680 i put a new can on and there is not a spot for temp probe sensor. can i run good without it or will i need to drill a spot for it. It seems to run fine in the air but havent set it down or been able to ride it to check it out.

well if it was me, i would drill the hole,
and have a fitting welded to the can for sensor.

Agreed. They don't put those sensors in for looks!
