Tail/ stop lights

Hi; Been a member for a while, this is my first post. I've just completed a minor restoration on my 1997 XCR 600le, and am having a slight electrical problem. When I first start it up, the taillights and stoplights will sometimes work. Then they will go out, and the brake warning light on dash will light. I am sure it is a ground issue, but I can't find it. Any ideas? Thanks.

Trace the wire from the tail / brake lights .. to where the connectors are, close to where the motor is. Check thoughly to make sure the wires isnt broken along the way - ANYONE? WL.

Check the wires under the seat. Most common area for breaks/rub throughs.

Thanks for the replys. I had the seat off to reupholster it, and the wiring harness looked like new. i have traced the wiring all the way to the engine with no luck. It is now stored for the summer, so I will have to attack it next fall.
