If the shocks are black, then they are non-rebuildable, toss them and find some good used Fox shocks the same length, they can be rebuilt, fresh oil and charged for about 60 bucks. Or you can buy new Ride FX shocks or other aftermarket replacement shocks.
Without the proper tools and experience, I would not be cracking open a shock, the nitrogen is under a lot of pressure if it hasnt leaked all out, and can be dangerous.
Unless you are talking about the bushings and such in the front end, those can be bought at Dennis Kirk, Parts Unlimited, or even on eBay, if you are looking for a deal.

I read in another thread that your sled has been sitting for 3 years? If the linkage is moving stiffly, grease it well first and see if that makes a difference.

One shock moves freely and the other is stiff so I'll try greasing it first then Ill go from there I'm trying to spend as little as possible because Im doing this on a small budget. Then If that doesnt eork ill try to find some fox shox

I would pull the suspension and disassemble it completely to clean all the dead grease out of everything. That stuff can bind a suspension just like epoxy. The shocks shouldn't move too freely, that's the whole point of a shock; to dampen movement of the suspension.

Most early 90's suspensions are not worth spending a lot of money on. Disassemble/clean/reassemble and see how it works for you. Take lots of pictures as you go so when you get stumped you are not totally confused by the drawings provided.

If you have the funds for newer shocks, I would invest in an Xtra-10 suspension and swap that in instead. The suspension travel is a lot better in the Xtra-10, which will give you a much better ride. There is a lot of info regarding installing the Xtra-10 in older Indys, including measured drawings to help you with the swap.

Good luck on your project!

as long as they are the same length, you should be good, they need to have the same travel as the stock ones.

quads are way lighter than sleds, I would say no, it would have weaker springs and be valved way too soft, plus no guarantee the shock eyes would be the right size or line up.

I have a good set in need of rebuild that will fit your sled. asking $40 for the pair. just the shox, no springs, you can use your current springs.

BTW, they are Fox

Fox Shox

Upper and lower spring retainers are next to them.

Should run between $30 & $40 each for rebuild.

Both have clean straight shafts.
