Yep, replace mag seal.
Cylinder is salvageable.
Muriatic acid will clean the aluminum off the plating quite handily.

Appears to be a stock bore with iron cylinder sleeves so it will be getting a complete 0.020 " over and new pistons and seals.

Judging by the dark color of the piston it looks like it may be carbon burnt, and not lean. I would check oil pump adjustment, timing, and check the exhaust for damage/cracks on that cylinder as well.

Popped a coolant hose a year ago or so and I figure that was the beginning of the end.. Farthest from the pump is always going to pay the price. Tune is definitely on the rich side but that is by choice . This didn't happen on the last ride but was nackered before I set out but finally showed ... I'm thinking.
Certainly explains that "little bog" that I had between 4500-6000 rpm.

Haven't forgotten about this thread yet, still waiting for my interface cable. It should haave been here by today I was told but that does not seem to be the case. Someone enlightened me today that they have found the compression tester in our shop to be inaccurate so I have picked up another one and will be rechecking compression tonight. Sorry to hear about the luck RXL, I hope we do not share the same fate. Where are you planning to order your gasket set from, or have you already? How much? Made a list of individual gasket part numbers at work but I can't remember if it was base gaskets or head gaskets that are discontinued right from Polaris. Oh well, hoping cable will be here in the next day or two, quadding with two people, a bunch of gear and 14 inches of old crispy snow is awfully hard on belts, lol.

I'm pretty sure I can still get everything through Royal Distributing.
Complete gasket set including seals --- $44.99
Piston set x 3 ( rings,pin,circlips ) -------- $206.97

Okay, from the mag side
115, 110, 115. Didn't have a chance to check around the intake boots or seals, the exhaust manifold didn't have any cracks in it when I had it off about a month ago. Hope i'll have the energy to look at it tomorrow and yes, my cable finally showed up today! The package it got sent in wouldn't fit in my mail box so I had to go to the post office to pick it up after work. I sure hope I can get you guys some info tomorrow. Its been above freezing all week and it doesn't look like its gonna stop melting anytime soon!

Thumbs up

Very minor change in rpm spraying near pto side seal, no noticeable change spraying around boots. Have to find some terminals to plug into diagnostic connector on sled. USB cable that i ordered has 22 gauge wiring, anyone have suggestions where to look or what type of terminal to ask for? Thought I could modify some male spade terminals but I would rather make a proper cable to get accurate readings. We're outta snow here but I would still like to get it running right before I store it. Sorry to those of you who have been awaiting more info from me but your guidance is much appreciated.

He replaced the plug caps and fixed his issue. RXLs have special caps, have you tried that?

Definetly revivng an old thread, forgot my password and could not find a way to recover account or change password. Still the original poster though. I have now reset my tps, put a brand new battery in this thing, changed fuel filters, checked fuel pressure, checked pick up in the tank. Runs better but after running for 10 minutes today it just wants to die when I give it throttle. I stilll have no codes flashing, and I am back to being stumped. HELP!!!!

The guys at my other shop have a disaster of a workshop, and said they will have it cleaned up this weekend so that I can get at the laptop that has the select monitor software on it. No luck getting at it the other night. But on another note, I rode it around for almost an hour the other night and it only ad the typical RXL low end bog. Never skipped a beat! I'd really like to get this figured out and I have been looking over other forums (RXL won't start reliably etc...) for any thing I may have missed. Maybe I will dig up an answer somewhere. At this point I'd really just like to get it hooked up to the software and see whats going on. Intermittent problems really suck!

Ok, having issues, Sled does not appear to be communicating with the select monitor software. Installed programs for my adapter, hooked up sled to computer, computer shows that it has connected through usb port, open the select monitor program and hit connect and it shows no data. it appears to try to connect to sled for a few minutes before re-highlighting the connect button. Any one have any experience, can anybody help. been waiting forever to get this thing hooked up, finally do and I'm an idiot that can't figure it out. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the usb adapter that was suggested last year by the site that I downloaded the select monitor software from (link given earlier in this thread). originally I had the txd terminal connected to grn/yellow, rxd connected to grn/red, and gnd hooked to blk beside the other two connections. I reversed the two data leads as suggested but no difference.

Tried again last night and again no luck. Did find a minor air leak at the centre throttle body boot though. Clamp appears to have worked itself loose. Also the terminal on the yellow wire at the ignition switch had spread and and worked itself loose so the fuel pump would not energize. Fixed both concerns, just looking to see if anyone has come up with a reason for the lack of communication between my sled and the software. Is there a pin diagram for the ecu? Wondering if there may be a break in one of the data wires and wanted to check for continuity but don't know which pins to go to.
