Good penetrating oil (PB Blaster) and patience will get it off, is needs to float on the shaft to aid with belt alignment.

Skid

Got it all back together and ready for this season. Still have to sync the carbs and such but will do that when it's a little colder out. Hoping it runs as good as it did just before it ate the piston skirt. I'll keep an eye on the plugs and bump the jets up one notch if they look too white after a few miles.
