Polaris Indy Serial Number/VIN
i have a polaris indy i bought off kijiji last monday. the kid says it was a 1991 Polaris Indy 600, i know there was no 600 in that year. Only 650's, i later found out that this engine was in the 84-87 indy's. so im buying a 650 engine. But my serial number/VIN on the tunnel is 1109431 its engraved on the right side of the tunnel. Much help would be appreciated!!

Checked my service manuals...don't see any info on a VIN starting with 110. Possibly an 84 but couldn't swear to it.

well i was thinking its between a 84-87 indy cause they had 600s in those years of sleds before the 650 in 88. Same engine model as what the 600 is EC60PL-02

did you check polarisman.com?
they show sled specs for all Polaris' - your profile picture is small, but it does look very similar to the '84 Indy 600.

its either an 83 or 87 indy 600. it has the taller tunnel (greater distance from the back bumper to the rear of the running boards) and the gold skid. they used both of those in 83/84. the seat looks like it has been changed, and the hood is painted obviously. the 600s made pretty close to the same power as the 650, so if you are doing the swap for performance, i would save the cash and put it into upgrades. just my .02

With the gold skid and deep tunnel my guess would be that it's a 1983 or '84. Below where the VIN is stamped on the tunnel there will also be a Date of Mfg., which will probably answer the question of it's age.

The description for the picture in the link above says it has bad compression.
@PolarisIndy_18 Cool sled, what did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking?

My guess is an 84 600 or a Frankensled from many different years.

The first two digits indicate the year. 11 = 1984 (12 =1985 and so on).

motor should have a sticker on it under the exaust manifold, may not be original. i bought a sled and was told it was a 91 indy600 but its an 87 chasis withan 85 motor and 90 hood. basically a frankensled. good thing parts are interchangable!
