Exclamation polaris indy?

Hi, I buyed a polaris indy, the guy said this is a 488cc but its not writed anywhere on the sled and when i search for polaris indy xtl on google its only 600cc and 500cc and i need to know to order part and im also not sure of the year, the serial number is : 1855032 and the manyfacture number i think is : 0910761.
I buyed it broken, the botom of the piston is broken, what can do that? and do you know good part website?

Look on the base of the cylinder by the clutch and you will see cast into it EC**PM or something similar, this will tell us the size of the engine in that.

Like 99Polaris said. the XLT is a triple, 580 or 600 cc. The 488 is a twin.

Kind of looks like this sled...

That sled came with a triple, the seat and hood match. XLT stands for Xtra Lite Triple. If it's got a twin in it, it's not original. That's a pretty common swap, the xlt was sometimes troublesome. If it's a 488 liquid, that engine is much more common and usually a lot more durable.

I though the 488 was a fan cooled engine.

The liquid 500 is 488 cc's, the fan is also 488 cc's.

its the fan cool and with the serial can i know if its original? the number on the cylinder is : EC50PM-01 and how can i know the year of the engine?and when I buy it, a piston had a side of the skirt broken and the other is cracked, it didn't leave a mark on the cylinder but is it posible that it broke something else in the engine?

Cracked/broken piston skirts are often a symptom of insufficient warm up time, or excessive wear of the cylinder.
Before buying new pistons and rings, have the cylinder mic'd for size.

The year build will be on the engine tag which is usually on the front side under the exhaust.

Parts are available from most online dealers/retailers.

OK, ready for this.......

serial starts with 18 and model# starts with 091. this says it is a 1991
middle number is 07 this is telling us that this is the chassis of Indy 440, 500, or 650.
last number is the engine # 61, EC50PM-01/02 F/C Twin

Based on that model# the chasis is a 1991 Indy Trail 488cc F/C twin with 34mm mikuni carbs. 15"X121" track.

someone tried real hard to make it look like an XLT.

If you look at the nosecone decals and the bumper trim they dont properly line up with the hood. they are off in the opposite directions. this leads me to believe thay are not even from the same sled.

I would guess they only made the cosmetic changes but you can only be sure by checking the engine numbers.
