Max speed on a 99 xc sp 500

What do you think the max speed is on a 99 XC SP 500. I know the normal XC can reach about 87 M.P.H. But that's a light weight driving it. I'm 16 at 6'3 and 235 pounds driving it. So i don't how much I'll slow it down with my size.

Well there is no difference between a 99 XC500 and a 99 XCSP500...Top end will maybe be around 95. MAYBE

On a good day under the right conditions you might get 95mph out of it. More than likely 85mph tops has been my expierence....either way it's probably well above the posted speed limit.

Studs may help out your acceleration, but they will bring down your top end.

Unless you constantly run lakes(which if this is the case, a 500 isnt the sled for you) why do you care about top speed? Not likely that youll ever reach it in the trails anyway

Pretty straightforward if ya ask me. If your always on a lake, your gonna want a 700-800. For trails, a 500 is great. You seem so concerned about top end, if thats all your worried about, you wont be impressed by the 500.

I drove my 500 everywhere. I ditch banged it, rode lakes, trails, etc.

The only thing I needed was more power for ditch riding. Otherwise, all is good.

I totally agree, even on a lake, 85 is fast enough. For me anyway.. But sense hes already asking how to make it faster, a 500 isnt the best option. But for me, a 500 is the PERFECT sled.

I just wanted a sled i could have some fun with and get going a little faster with than my old little 340. So i think a 500 is perfect for me. All i wanted to know is how fast you guys thought it could go. That's pretty straightforward if ya ask me!

Top speed of 90 on radar or gps (on ice or hard pack). Your results will vary with conditions.

I like to think that my 500 does over 100mph.... I measure the 'wind speed' instead of track speed LOL. Just turn the nose into a the wind, pin the throttle then stand up and let the 100mph+ wind try to rip my helmet off !!!

I don't think I have the guts to hold the throttle much past 80-85mph... I'll try it this year though. Bought a 600 last week

Iv modified mine to where I go 95 on a snow stretch and 105 on ice. It is not bored out but 96 studs and an after market racing clutch makes a large difference in speed. Without the clutch I was barly hitting 90. I think I could go a little faster without the studs on snow in the long run. With studs anywhere you will have a faster jump start.

Not sure if this 500 has the liberty ves motor, just the liberty with no ves, or Fuji. Either way a 500 is plenty for all around. Not sure what the guy saying the 500 isn't ok for lakes. I have a 01 XC Sp. with the VES 500 and that thing is a screamer. Around 105 HP. Put down many F5's and all I've done is clutched it and it has 5,200 miles and purrs like new. The little 500's are more than enough.
