xcr 440 pipe

Does anyone know where I could get aftermarket pipe for a 94 xcr 440?

I dont think there is one! I have seen a guys sled on youtube that is a 95 XCR 440 special, and it had a 2 piece pipe. If yours is the same sled as mine (1994 Polaris XCR SP) it has a single pipe, and there is no can on it, or its built into the pipe and you cant see it. The pipe comes back and just has a down tube to the outlet on the belly pan, with no inerchangable silencer on there. I would like to find one also and have looked around, but havent found much. By the way welcome to the forum! If ya figure something out let me know!

I do not think you'll have much luck with this. There are only a handful of manufacturers that sell pipes for 500 twins much less the 440 block.

exactly. it just sucks, you would think with my sled being the factory race sled from 94, it would have SOME sort of a pipe available for it, but nope. Its a completely different engine from the standard XCR 440, which uses the 440 from any other liquid cooled 440 chassis. This one has XCR SPECIAL cast right into the head. clutched from the factory, diff carbs etc. Im sure you knew that (bahn) as you deal with used sleds all the time, but i guess I just find it odd that there is NOTHING out there for a race sled... o well! She moves pretty damn good the way it is!

Here is a pic of the way mine is set up, before I detailed the engine bay.

lol i like how your spark plug caps are taped! But yea, pipes will be hard to come bye. If its got the engine like Cruzrs or any other one, there was a single pipe back then made by PSI. Sounds sweet! My brother had one on his Indy 500 and it sounds way better than stock.

ya you like that? haha! The previous owner was a bit of a hack as you can tell, Tyvek tape held the spark plug boots tighter, the windshield together, was used to hold up parts of the wiring harness, all kinds of stuff!! Thank god I got rid of that crap! I ended up putting new NGK plug ends on it and totally detailed the under hood of it. Polished the belt cover, head, recoil cover, everything which was aluminum and polishable lol! It looks sweet now! All I have to do now is paint that exhaust pipe, as I didnt want to when I was polishing without getting new gaskets for the Y-pipe to block sealing surface. Didnt want to reuse the old ones so I figured id wait till I got new ones then do it!

Also I dont think that pipe from your brothers sled would have done anything for this one. Thats a completely different engine family, the 488 Fuji. That had a taller more circular head design with cooling fins, while this one has a different look to the heads and engine completely. If you look close the bolt pattern for these heads is very similar to the XLT 600 monoblock design, if not the same. Its just short a cylinder.

But now that I looked up a Indy 500, the pipe looks almost identical! Who knows!

No the engines look different. His engine looks the same as the standard XCR 440, same exact head design and everything. The pic Im going to attach is from google and is the style engine that was in the Indy 500. Compare that to my 440. Also in that pic, its from a thread from snowmobilefanatics or something and they are talking about how the pipe is super loud and not stock. Looks to me like the cut the stock pipe open, and welded on the end of a diffeerent pipe with a silencer. who knows. But this is just to show the difference.

And now that i think about it, did YOU (yami440ss) have the Indy 500? Is this Big Z on the wrong account again?

Yea that looks like a chopped up exhaust thats been rebuilt, but also kinda looks like the DG pipe and can. No, he had an 89 indy 500 a while back, last summer. Weve had to many sleds to keep track of. lol

ridgerunner, I am not interested in the pipe, as my XCR has turned to my girlfriends sled and she doesnt need aftermarket exhaust right now. Plus Radar Love was the one asking about it, Id rather not steal it away from him! But just so he and I both know, what is the thing worth? Or what would it go for?

Snownstunt, thats hilarious!!! what a hack job! The only reason I can imagine it runs half @$$ed is because it came off a 650, and each pipe on the original sled has to exhale 216.666 ccs of exhaust, and 220cc on the 440 engine. So they are close, but STILL!! hahah! they are NOT designed for that and probably run like total crap.

YamiSS440, watch that youtube vid that Snownstunt put up, thats the 440 that comes in the standard XCRs.
