HELP! Brake light problem

After I started up my '95 XLT SP this afternoon I noticed that both the brake light and brake light indicator were not working. The taillight works fine, though, as do all of the other gauges. The brake itself also works just fine. I did not see any lose wires and am going to put a new bulb in tomorrow to see if that fixes the problem. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem or knew what to do to correct it. Thanks!

Do the bulb first. The indicator lets you know when the bulb is blown.

I tried a new bulb but no luck. Could it be that the bulb on the dashboard is out? Otherwise, I'll have to find if there is separate current that goes to the brake light because the taillights still work fine.

There is a separate wire for the brake light. It could be the brake switch, which you can find either near the brake lever itself, or down near the caliper.
