sled idles fine, but stalls when given gas

My friends sled will start up fine, but when he gives it gas it stalls, does this mean bad gas?
im guessing that the carbs need to be cleaned but want to hear some input first before i tear into it

it is a 2004 Polaris pro x2 800 they are mikunis, but they are flat on top, do they pull apart the same way as the round mikunis?

Check here for specs for your sled.

Find the ATV Polaris part or Polaris snowmobile part you need, new ,used, OEM, aftermarket and performance parts, Polaris ATV Forums

According to this site, the sled has rack style TM-40's (flat slides). Removing the carbs and fuel bowls to access the jets in this carb is pretty simple and straight forward. The float bowl is pretty much held in place by the nut that holds the water trap hose and a small screw. Unscrew the small screw, then the nut, the bowl comes off. There should be 3 jets under the bowl, pilot, main, and starter jet. All can be easily removed for cleaning of the jet and for making sure the fuel and air passages are clear.

I have some pics of some racks disassembled for cleaning somewhere, if it would be helpful, I'll see if I can locate and post 'em
