Cool What's the best/ biggest fan cooled motor any brand

Inwas wondering what's then biggest / best and reliable fan cooled motormout there. Don't care of what brand. I have a 488 fan and it has 1350 mile on it. And want to go faster. I know lighter is faster in some cases. My sled is about as light as I can make it minus drilling out the track( less rotating mass = faster spinning ) and the motor. Any thoughts?

Most reliable without a doubt is the Yamaha 540 SRV engine. It's difficult to fit into other chassis though because it does not have mounting holes in the bottom of the case.

Polaris 488

Not sure about the horsepower rating on the 488 fan, but has to be around 50 hp. The newer 544 cc fan puts out 60 hp. I'm another "fan" of the SRV and its 535cc fan motor. Bulletproof, and that thing went like a bat out of hell. My brother has a '93 Indy Classic with the 488, and he likes it alot.

I took my 488 Indy trail
sled and made it what we call in the shop a "mini mod". It still has stock lenght track with 1 1/2 lugs. I made alum front arms and 4 bars Slp ultra light skis a 5 gallon tank I put a 2 " lift in the front and it's set up @ 3" in the rear but can go to 6" and made my own seat and workin on a mnt type style hood right now

Hahaha. I hot rods for a living. Come on I can't leave anything alone. I pay $100 for it last fall . Some retard ran in to a tree and sheered off the skis in the middle of summer while they were drunk . I found skis of an 82 srv bought a new belt and battery a nother $100 and rode the piss out of it. The biggest problems i had was burying it in deep snow and trying to lift it back out( stupid this is a cadilac of sleds) . I blew up my chain case at the end of the season .So this fall I found a chain case ,smaller 5 gallon tank instead of the 12 gallon made a tiny seat and lighten the crap out of it about 120 lbs. I spent about $200 on newer non all steel skis , aluminum for fabing front arms and hood and nuts and bolts and a chain case I pirated fox
coil overs off a wrecked 580 zr cat I have about $400 in my dumb sled I want to put a bigger motor and see what else I can do. If you put an big motor in a light sled you will it was a beater to start now it's a "Hot Rod" hahaha. I just wanta have fun for next to nothing.

Maybe if you're lucky, you can find one of those old Hirth 680cc engines. At 65hp, they were usually in a sled that was geared real low.
Most were used in the early 70's AC Panther with the chrome "montana pipes" that were on the outside of the body.
