2000 polaris 700 XC Deluxe

Hi, I just picked my first polaris last night and it sounds MEAN! Im really excited about it. I have a couple of questions about it. First, I need a low beam light bulb, is there anywhere to order these online? Also the speedometor doesent light up either but does work. The fuel gauge does light up but doesent funtion, stuck on empty. Other than that the sled seems to be flawless. Would having no key cause the fuel gauge to not work? Because the guy lost the key so he just unplugged the ignition and it fires right up first pull. And about where does the clutch grab on these things? Thanks for any replies in advance and sorry about lengthy post!

Nice sled!

Any of the mail order places will sell the bulbs, I like DennisKirk.com - Motorcycle, Harley-Davidson, ATV, Dirt Bike, Snowmobile, PWC / Watercraft Parts, Apparel, and Accessories and use them a lot.

If it's got an electric fuel gauge, the key may have to be on. Polaris only made about 6 different keys, you can get a key for your ignition from the dealer. On some of the ignitions, there are some dots on the ignition to tell you which one.

Engagement should be somewhere around the 4000 rpm range for that sled, some guys will put in a stiffer spring to boost the RPM at engagement for a better hole shot. The RMK has a softer engagment RPM of about 3500 to keep from spinning the track to help prevent trenching in the deep powder. If it has the stock parts and engages too high, you may benefit from cleaning the clutch. Blowing it out with compressed air will get rid of a bunch of belt dust. Then check where the belt rides in the primary; if there's a bunch of belt residue (black ring), clean that off with some sandpaper or a scotchbrite pad. The residue will cause the belt to slip and also cause a higher engagement RPM.

good luck with your new toy!

gauges and lights

your fuel gauge doesnt work because probly the fuse is blown, just before the gauge in the hood where the wires are theres a fuse there that goes to the fuel gauges, and the lights for your speedometer its the bulb inside the speedo, all the gauges have them, easy to replace!!!! its not neccesasaraly because of the key, but having a key is pretty nice!! hahah

yeah no prob, if u need any help with your xc just let me know and ill try to help, i have the same machine expect modified a bit, ive done a ton of work on it!!! feel free to ask question if u have any!!! for that key if dont wanna pay the full price at dealership go at a salvage yard, get the hole ignition from another polaris...

if you wanna get a kick out of that motor, get some boyseen reeds, or vforce 3 reeds, and drop down the gears 22 40 in the chain case, and the MBRP can exhaust and a must, 192 stud or more hahah, thats a pretty descend cheap upgrade

NOW if you wanna go with the big bucks, u go on SLP.com and order the double pipe kit, some jetting and clutching mods or requiered tho...and the high flow intak kit is recommended personnaly...

nice black windshield woudlnt be nice to

Actually regulator ground.
Clean up the ground contact area and the lights will come up again.

I checked the grounds. They were FINE. I replaced the voltage regulator but still did the same thing, I unpluged the magnito and check the volts and when first started it peaks at 12.6 v then drops down to 2.3 - 2.7 I also noticed more lights not working.. Anyone thinking it's the stator (mag). Any help would be great AGAIN I'm learning, I think
