Horsepower ratings

I just got a 1991 Polaris Indy 500 sp the other day and was wondering about how much HP it makes. It has a PSI racing pipe, K&N Filters, main jets have been uped 2 sizes, clutch has been reworked(?? thats what prev owner said), track turned around 96 studs added and rear susp raised to the lower holes. Its runs real good, will lift the ski's about 1-1/2 foot on the grass. any ideas?? Thanks

Stock, about 85-90, the set up you have, 100-105 respectively

Wow I didn't think it would be that much I was thinking around 60-70, wow. So this should be a good 90+mph sled huh?

I'm going to be a bit more conservative and guess 85 - 95 HP with the mods and 70 - 80 without. I do however think its will top 90 MPH and possibly hit 100.... let us know!

100mph on a sled seems quite extream, I have gone 75mph on my friends 96 cat jag 500 and I was plenty happy with that. The conditions would have to be prim for me to try that (on a open lake of course)

Do you want to fight? Its a 1991 500... I'm guessing it has lost a little horsepower over the last 14 years.

i went 105. had a lot of wind pushing right on my chest. i must say, the rev's windshield doesnt help too much, and the new X windshields are pointless. my helmet was ok though... a little lift, but not much

The motor is brand new, it has about 1 1/2 hours run time and .04 miles, most of the running was to make sure the coolant completly filled the engine and exchangers.

Then you must realize by now that I still plan on seeing the Cat holds its own against that 800 Switchback. Forget the break in... I'll meet you at your house at midnight and we'll see who makes it to the boat landing first..... skip skip skip!

Just kidding, but I thik we should get the video camera out and tape a few races on our sleds this year. I've got a new system to upload videos to the web too!

I burried the speedo at 125 on my 99 xc700, held it for another 6-8 seconds, then coasted for 75 miles. That was in 1/2 inch snow on a frozen river. That's rippin!! The problem is, I can't get a slower sled now,...next up 800xcr!!!

I had my 02 600 xcsp going 105 and it wasn't bad at all! I feel like I could've squeezed a few more out but I had a full tank so who knows? Either I'm crazy or I'm just a freak, but I have no problem "cruising" down the trails at 85-90. But, I have crap for gas mileage because of it... WOOHOO!! Polaris rules!!
