I am looking at buying a 2001 Polaris RMK 550 for 1500 dollars and it has about 6,000 miles. I was wondering if this is a good price and if the sled with last me for a couple of years without major problems. I was told that the sled use to be a rental and that it was well taken care of and properly maintained. Any info would be helpful.

IMO I think $1500 is too much for a rental. As far as reliability, my brother-in-law has one with about 10,000 miles on it. I would check the compression, and if both cylinders are 120 or above, I'd go a max of $1200.

thats not a bad price but it will need rebuilding soon ya id say 1200 max.

i have a 2001 550 as well, i payed $1,300 for it and it had 3,000 miles on it. it was also a rental sled
It is a good sled, but the top speed is 80 on a really cold day

i paid 1300 for my 2003 sled. they r great powder sleds for carving
