reverse bottom gear?

hey guy im putting on a reverse kit on a 02 xcr 800 the stock gear has 39 teeth they make a 40 tooth gear option witch one should i put back on .Will the 39t help with low end or top end ? thanks gents

If you put the 40 in you will also have to change the top sprocket or change the chain.
The 39 will be faster.
