Track compatibility question.....Noobish

Good morning,

I recently purchased my first Polaris (95 XCR 600 triple) for a very good deal, and although it runs very well, and has great compression (120 psi even across all three cyls), it needs some tlc....The main thing required is a track. It has the stock rear susp. xc-101 with the original 121x15x1 track. I have been seeing some really good deals for lightly used replacements on Ebay, but am not sure if there are any other considerations to take into account other than size. Is it by default that if it's off of a polaris, and the track has the same dimensions, it will fit, or do I need to take anything else into account (pitch/Paddle size/etc..)?

Can anyone who knows please chime in with a little advice?

Thanks all,

Rob

Tracks are interchangeable regardless of what brand sled they come off, but they have to be the same size all around.

Sorry to ask again, but I was just told that the number of holes have to match. Is this true?

Not sure on that one... I don't think so, the holes are only for grip.

well not so much the number of holes as there are different setups such as leaving every third window closed but what is important is the spacing of the windows there were a few sleds that ran different spacing on their drive lugs but I dont know which sleds were like this.

You will have to make sure you have enough clearance between the tunnel and the drive cogs if you go to a deeper lug track. If your drive cogs are extroverts, you will have to have a track with fully clipped windows with all the holes open. Extroverts help keep the track from ratcheting, and allow the track to be run a bit looser for less rolling resistance. The track will have to match the pitch of your drive cogs to work properly. 2.52" pitch is very common, but there are some with different pitches.
