They are not rechargeable. There is a small adjuster screw at one end that controls the damping force. A stubby screwdriver or dime works well. Full open allows the least amount of damping (easy to compress or extend) and fully closed (three turns) is max damping. You'll find these adjusters on all the Ultra Touring's shocks unless they have been changed out.

Thanks Ultrafrozen. I am trying to figure out why the rear end is "squating" a lot more then I remember when new. With my daughter and I on last year the mud flap was touching the trail. When sitting on the garage floor I can lift the rear by hand about 3 - 4" without the track lifting. Let go and the rear drops back down.
Tightened the dampening screw and this just made the rear stiff to either lift or push down.
Block on spiral springs are set to heaviest user position.
Any ideas? It is a 1997 but only 1800 miles. Do the spiral springs actually loose lift over time? Would they in that small amount of riding?
Yup, suspension is completely free. Was completely apart last January when I did the bearings. Cross rods were removed, cleaned and greased before reassembly as well. Other than that it is regularly greased fall and mid season.
