2001 Indy 600 XC SP Chain Case leak

Can anyone help me out? I believe I have a chain case leak oon my 2001 Indy 600 XC SP. Would anyone have a shop manual available that could show schematics and torques? I am not sure which gasket it would be.

Thanks Jerry. Looks pretty straight forward with that schematic. Have you ever changed one before? Do you think it would be pretty easy?

Where is it leaking?
Between the case cover, or at the drive shaft?

Here is the story. I thought it was leaking between the case and the cover last year and replaced the big black seal myself and properly torqued the cover. Rode it, still leaked. I took it in and they said it was on the inner seal and replaced it for.....oh I dont know ~ $100 with labor and all. Rode it, it was fine since last season and all summer long until a couple weeks ago. The temp dropped, then warmed up a little and all of a sudden, I see oil on the opposite side running down the track. I checked the level and it looked dry. I filled the chain case up and it started leaking a little bit, but not as much as before.

I appreciate your help.

Try putting it up on a stand and letting the track turn. This may warm up the seal and allow it to reseat. If it does not, then you will have to redo the inner seal of the drive shaft.

I do have it on a stand and did run it. I'm seeing some spots. I will run it again tonight for longer than what I did, check the oil level and see what happens. Will I need to take the back side of the case off to change the lower seal?

No, the drive shaft carries it on the inside of the case.
You would have to drop the skid and track to get at it.
