pull start

I have a 2002 RMK that i bought just over a year ago.Question is when i try and start it,I have to use quite a bit of effort to pull the cord to start it.Is this normal with the RMK 800 models?
Question #2 is i would like to put a battery and starter on it but i was told i can't get those kits anymore. Is that correct?

When I had a 2002 800 RMK, it was a bugger to pull. The newer ones had a decompression hole to help, but that also decreased performance.

Best bet for battery/starter would be a salvage yard or ebay. You are right, the kits are hard to come by.
