Need help on buying a sled?
Hi guys, i am just looking for some imput on buying a 2006 rmk 600.
155 track.
aftermarket parts include,
685 big bore kit, has about 1600 miles on it.
SLP pipe and can.
Holz suspension front and back.
Fox float shocks.
Powder pro skis.
Big wheel kit.
after market air vents.
2" bar risers.
And some other things on it, the sled is in good shape, has some show of wear the seat has a rip in it, and a couple broken plastic parts.
I am just looking for some input/help on buying or not buying the sled?
Any help would be nice thanks

the 600s are a great motor no problems with them, but holy crap thats alot of mods, do you mind if i ask how much he wants for it? and every mod makes a sled that much more powerful and that much less reliable!

He's really only done two engine mods on it but the miles are very low. I'm guessing that most of them were powder miles which is hard on the engine.

That 685 will run with a lot of stock 8's. That sled will sell for close to 4k day in and day out. None of those mods hurt the value, and none hurt dependability. For $3K, you will kick yourself if you don't buy it!!
That is the sled Polaris should have built instead of the doomed 900/700 in 2005/2006. The 600 small block was the only bright spot in the Polaris lineup in 2006 for mountain sleds. The Holtz suspension is lighter and stronger than stock, with a better turning geometry. The Fox Floats are supposed to be awesome, although some report that the Float 2s are a bit less bouncy. SLP makes awesome stuff for Polaris sleds, their pipe and can have been hands down the easiest way to make power and lose weight dependably for a lot of years.
That guy spent close to $3k in mods, and all of 'em would be something I would have wanted over stock. I was thinking of doing the same stuff to my 06 600, the stock 600 ran out of power on me a couple of times in the past two years. You get the power of the bigger engine but with no real weight penalty like is found on the 900/700. But I found a 700 all ready to go and got that instead.
You won't be disappointed in that sled, especially for $3000 bucks!!

Take your time picking it up. You probably won't be able to ride it anyways.

Is it a Carls 685? If so, it should run awesome! (I hope so, anyway, my 700 is a Carls Cycle sled)
I ride with a couple of guys with SLP 660 kits, they are keeping up with the 900's most days. The 600 is just a very good platform, it's light, easy to turn, and climbs great with the 155". The one 685 that I have been around was even more impressive. Those sleds are why I bought a 700.. and my 700 has a lot of the same stuff as the one you are looking at; Fox shocks, Holtz front end, SLP pipe/can, engine is ported, I have the Gripper skis instead of the Powder Pros. I hope I can keep up this year
My 700 also has all the track lugs trimmed, the stock 155" track is awesome in the deep powder, but when it comes to hardpack or ice, it sucks. I had serious control issues last year on my 2008 600 because of that track. By cutting the tips off, it makes the track work a LOT better on the hardpack days, but it still has good powder capability. Some people have also screwed #6 square drive small head screws into the lugs to make them even stiffer. I will see how cutting off the tips helps on the 700, then may do the same to my 08 600.
