Polaris rear suspension/skid question

Hey all,
I've got an 1990 Indy 500, and it's rear suspension is terrible! it has like 6-7 inches of travel, and it gets pretty bad when the trails get rough... which is like most of the time since they only get groomed once every 2 weeks or so around here...
So I was wondering, if it is technically (and more importantly) physically possible to stick an extra 10, or edge x rear suspension under it? I've seen a few floating around on craigslist lately, and it just made me curious to whether it is doable?

I just checked and theres a 144 skid off an 03 sks for $450... what about that?
