Question 95 polaris crank seals

I have a 95 xcr. I rebuilt it three times already. The crank pto seal keeps failing. The last time I had over 1000 miles on it before it went bad. Engine was rebuilt completely first time except used same crank, just replaced end bearings. I was told it was running true by a mechanic.Any ideas?

all sleds have unwanted stress on the pto seal, some or subseptible more than others.when the cutch is sitting idle just think about it,there has too bo free play and the seal takes the brunt.futhermore a buddy of mine had just the same sled and his condition was way worse, when the seal went so did his pistons.my opinion,if your going to keep this sled get the housings rebuilt to except more or bigger bearings

You need to find out why it is doing this.
It could be worn bearing journals, insufficient oiling of the bearing, out of balance clutch.
If I recall correctly, there was a fix for this issue on those engines which involved having the case milled to use a wider bearing on the PTO and enlarging the oil gallery.

95 polaris

I have enlarged oiler hole and also modified the bearing to help with oil flow. How do you check the clutch balance?

Take the weights and lay them on top of each other, they should be all exactly the same front to back. Any differences and you should replace the whole set. Also check that the rollers are not wobbly or worn (bushings), if so replace as a set.
