Good buy? 97 polaris 600
Guy selling his 97 Polaris. Runs and drives, never wrecked, he is 70 years old and cant ride no more. He was the only owner, bought it for $6,000 back in the day..... we've been talking back and forth, he agreed to sell it for around $500 finally.
Is this a good buy? I herd those 600 had some crank case problems is this true? Any tips i should watch out for before buying it? Anything i should inspect? Any serial numbers i should have him provide me with to make sure i get the 600 that already was updated with new crank case? Other issues or things i should watch and inspect?

If I ever saw a 97 600 for $500, I would buy it in a second, but that doesnt happen to me. I usualy get screwed, but for $500 you should take a look, give it a good inspection.

It was not the fugi 600 that had any crank problems.
One of the most reliable engines that they have.

You should stay away from this sled. Instead, send me the guy's phone number so I can tell him he should scrap it! Just Kidding, It's a good buy as long as the mileage is below 7000 miles. Much more above that and you are looking at low reliability.

I had a 97 xcr 600 and it was great. Very heavy but a good ride. My only complaint was it used the triple pull cables and made my thumb/wrist sore after awhile. Also that should have the individual cylinders, not the mono block which did have the crank problems.

Snowmobile arrived the other day. Bought it for a whopping $450 because one of the customers cracked the windshield when looking at it. The guys asking price was $900. Shipped to my door cost me all together $620 dollars. This snowmobile is in pretty mint condition. The guy was 70 years old and only used it on trail rides. Problem is, he lives in a the middle of no where so selling it became a problem for him that's why he considered my offer.
Its a beauty, i was even shocked how nice condition it was. Fires up, but probably will do a crab clean. Will post better images if needed later...
Actually i will snap images if interested when i do a carb cleaning and raising of the rear by 3-2 inches and 2 inches at front. Then going to put either a 144 track on it or 136....... 144 are hard to find

Surge did say he bought it from an old guy. You know how they are! Crabs are the least of your worries when you're 70!
Good work on the great deal SurgeDS, I wish I could find that kind of deal for my kid. I'm trying to find a low mileage Polaris or Skidoo, Liquid Cooled 500 or bigger and all I have found are high mileage beaters so far.
