The 91' indy 400's retail for 740 so I'd base it somewhere around that.

No offence TwinsofMLB but u really have to stop looking at kbb prices. prices for snowmobiles vary everywhere so that doesnt really help by looking at a website price. Just my thoughts on that.

I have seen them for sale for as little as $600.00 but it was junk. A very nice original 400XC would bring $1500 and up. Which is pretty good compared to the Indy 400's. It all depends on the condition and how original it is.

Give it another 10 years and these things will be worth a fortune. Very rare sled, I have only seen one and it was at the salvage yard. No idea who would want to part one of these out.

I have one I picked up at the end of last winter for $150, wasn't running. In about 3 minutes I discovered a crack in the main fuel feed off the tank, replaced it and it fired right up. I was told it was a 91 440 XCR but discovered they didn't make the XCR until 92. A quick google of the model # off the side revealed it was a 91 XC 400. Someone peeled off most of the decals and painted "XCR 440" on the hood and the seat isn't original. Everything else is but was in pretty rough shape. I disassembled the entire front end and sandblasted all suspension parts, painted black (they were red but I couldn't find a matching paint) rebuilt the shocks, rear suspension, and all new bearings in the driveline. New hoses, waterpump belt, recoil cord, hyfax, fuel/oil lines, clutches etc. Going to ride it for the first time this weekend. I wasn't looking for an extra sled but a guy I work with had it and wanted to get rid of it since his kids were grown up and out of the house. I can hardly wait to try this thing out. Attached is a picture of it. I have since replaced the seat cover since the one on it was ripped.

I'll check the # this weekend when I take it out riding. I removed the decals right under the seat on the tunnel because they were badly faded. Some aluminum cleaner from NAPA is what cleaned it up nicely.

Just wanted to say that yes the indy xc 400 did come out in 1991 and yes it had a 440 L/C motor. My buddy bought one new in 91. It was a polaris prototype thing. It was a new racing sled that had go for a 440. There are not many of those still on the go. Take care of it.

Correct me if Im wrong .. Polaris came out with an XC400 back in 91.5 which I believe was a limited production race sled - in '92, Polaris went into a 440 version. 91xc400, did that sled of yours come with a 38mm carbs? Or is it 34mm? WL
