1997 Polaris Indy Sport 440 problems
I am a newbie to the snowmobile world. I picked up a 1997 Polaris Indy Sport 440 from my aunt that had only 45 miles put on it. It has sat in her garage for several years, so I cleaned out all of the old gas cleaned up the carberators and jets, put a new feul filter on and replaced the feul line and filter inside of the tank. I am very new to the two cycle engine world and I don't have a repair or owners manual with this mahine. I put in a little gas to see if I could get it running and It started right up, idles fine, there is a problem with one of the carberators as it pours gas out of a fitting that is on the top piece of the carberator that goes into the air box. The piece looks like it should have a line hooked up to it but only one of the carberators is leaking gas. When the gas is turned on, you start it up and it pours out gas. With the gas shut off the sled will run fine with no leaks until it runs out of fuel. I know 2 cycle engines put out some smoke but the white smoke just pours out of this thing. Should I be mixing oil with the gas that I put into the tank, and if so is it just a standard 50:1 ratio, or does this machine mix the gas and oil for you? Sorry for the long winded post but I am very gratefull for anyones responses.
Thanks,
Sledohio
