dash lights & handwarmers

The dash lites on my 2000 Indy 550 all quit working at once. How do I check/test for the problem?

The handwarmers on my 1994 440 XCR are no longer warmin' the hands. (Ouch - hands get cold quik ) How to troubleshoot?

Check the bulbs first to see if they are blown out, check the tail light as well.

The warmers may have a bad switch, try bypassing it to see if the heaters still work.

If the lights went out all at once, and your handwarmers died, it might be that your voltage regulator went out. I caught mine after bulbs burned out, and handwarmer leds burned out as well.

first of all, the problems are with 2 different sleds, so I don't think its the voltage regulator...

the lights that went out are those that light up the dash, the "High Beam" indicator light still works....

I am looking for troubleshooting tips to follow to determine what the problems are & how to fix them! I am a handyman by trade & have a volt/ohm meter to test with... need specific directions on what & how to test....

Oops, read post too quickly. Start at sockets/power supply for handwarmer and check for voltage. Work backwards upstream until you find power and figure out while why it stopped. This is assuming you have already checked for burned out bulbs/continuity in the warmer elements.

Are your headlights still working, and do the guages themselves still work?

thanks for all the tips....I will be working on the sleds this week & see what I can find out......

BTW, on the dash lite problem, ONLY the illumination lites are dead. Headlites, hi beam indicator lite, tach, speedometer etc still work. (hard to read gauges at nite in the dark)
