skid installation

1998 700xc

Ok i rebuilt the skid on my sled with new bearings, springs, and shocks. Everything went well and acording to plan except when i tried to reinstall the skid, what a pain in the *@$...

Can anyone give me some pointers or tricks as to how this should be done. I can't seem to get it myself.

I'm asuming i will have to compress the suspension some, which would mean undoing the springs to release the preasure.

anyhow any sugestions would be greatly apreciated...

You can unload the springs or use a ratchet strap to compress the rear. Bolt the front in first then go to the back, works for me.

Also, by tightening the track, you can compress the spring. I usually leave my springs "undone" when I install a skid.
