Picked up a mint condidtion 99 xc700 today This sled it the cleanest sled ived ever seen! It only has 2300 miles on it too. the only thing is that it needs a new grommet for the oil tank which is like 3 bucks.

Nice sled. Those early 700's had a lot of hp for the time, power can be addicting!!
Congrats on your new ride!

I wax my sled once a yaer. My old 91 Indy 500 looked brand new when it was 13 years old. Nothing like a little upkeep to keep your rides looking nice.

Nice sled. I had one of those before I had the sled I currently ride and with a little clutching work they are pretty quick.
The stock clutching is so tame on those sleds, but a different spring, different weights and a different secondary helix really wakes those things up.
Make sure you budget plenty of money this winter for gas. Those sleds were known for poor gas milage (10 mpg at best). I know that my '99 700 XC SP couldnt pass a gas station.
Other than that, great sleds. I sometimes wish I still had my '99 700 XC SP.

I had one of those. I was clutched and I put the 136" suspension in it from an 02 edge chassis, really made the ride a lot nicer. Fast, Fun, and Frickin Scary across a lake.

Mine would do about 105 mph on the lake. Not bad for a single-piped 700. The best thing about those sleds was the exhaust note. That was the last year before Polaris went to the big, "suitcase" mufflers and those '99 700s had this awesome, wailing exhaust note.
Id say that the '97-'00 Domestic twins were some of the best-sounding sleds Polaris has ever made. The only thing better is a triple, you cant beat the sound of a triple.
I sold my '99 700 XC to my neibor and a few years after that he bought a 440 XCR for his son. Anywho, one day the kid wanted to go riding but the dad didnt, she he offered to let me go riding win his son and told me I coul ride the 700 XC.
That whole day I thought, "Man, was this sled always this loud?!?!"

1900 is a good price for that sled for the shape it's in. I paid 1750.00 for mine in 2004 but I got it at an auction. I sold it 2 years ago for 2250.00 after I put 3000 more miles on it. I broke about even after the maintanance and the suspension and track upgrade. Mine was the white XC SP.
