Question help! indy 500 carb

i just bought this mint indy 500 carb, 1997 model Gen 2, runs like a dream. i get it home and it floods out badly when trying to start it cold, its like its siphoning gas while sitting in the garage. does it have a cracked gas line or something. its really bumming me out, i let it sit with the plugs out and fuel shut off for week (in a heated garage) put plugs back in and crank it twice and its soaked!! help me figure this out I want to keep this nice scooter for the wife and kids

Clean the carbs.
Pay particular attention to the fuel shut off valve attached to the floats.
These have a nasty habit of not sealing properly and flooding the engine.
Either replace the needle with a new one with the vitron tip or make sure to turn off the inline fuel shutoff valve every time.
