Where is the fuel filter? 97 XLT 600

Brother and I cannot find the fuel filter for his sled

There will be a weighted filter on the pick-up line in the gas tank, and sometimes an inline filter on the hose from the tank to the fuel pump. Some sleds didnt' have the inline one, they are easy to add.

Ah alrighty

How about an "Oil injection filter"? My brother just asked that so I don't know

Oil injection filter is kind of optional, I believe. You aren't gonna get much water in there, and I don't really trust oil to flow through a filter medium fast enough to keep the pistons lubed up at WOT. I premix all my sleds anyway, but just saying.

There is a factory oil filter at the oil tank, at the outlet. It's supposed to be replaced yearly, but that's one I don't mess with much and have had no issues. If you replace the filter, it's almost sure to make a big mess and you will have to purge the lines/pump of air to ensure the pump is pumping oil. It wouldn't be a bad idea to premix the first tank of gas after replacing the filter. Top the oil tank off, and after your ride, you can see if the oil went down in the tank normally. That way you make sure the air is out of the system.
