Well, I've come to the conclusion that the ECU DOES in fact hold trouble codes. I connected my other ECU from a 91...it flashes 1 long 2 short...12 for crankcase sensor...
And I think my fuel pump isn't pulling fuel... I can here it, but its not priming...too long of hose I'm thinking...
Well... Upon further review I think I figured out why my pump isn't pulling. I had the lines mixed up AT the pump. I probably should have paid more attention to which was "in from tank" and "out to rail".
Very soon, you will be the forum's expert on the RXL!
Congrats on getting it running! Lots of sleds have been converted to carbs because owners just couldn't wrap their head around all the electronics associated with the EFI. Kudos to you for your persistence!
If I don't know something, I go and research it to the fullest of my abilities. However, RXL guru...maybe not..but at least I will have some knowledge and be able to help others solve their EFI issues...
I think what's going in is the ECU has to "relearn" its components, much like an ECU does in you car when you reconnect the battery.
I do need to get either the select monitor or get a cable and download the monitor PC.
I would like to get a 500 efi...I think that might be fun to dive into.
the 94 RXL lives again! It started on 1 pull and idles.
Not sure what I did, perhaps nothing. Maybe its the fact that the FI holds pressure, or the ECU "learned" what it needed too.
Who knows, I'm just thrilled it runs.
I've got the good stuff in here too, premium with Amsoil Interceptor mixed at 50:1...just enough to allow the oil pump to start injecting, bled oil pump lines yesterday.
Time to connect the tank and toss some fresh fuel in, a dash of oil mix to ensure the pump is functioning, 1/8" id lines ARE full.
And some sea foam, the injectors have been sitting for about 3 years...still had old fuel in them...
Fill coolant with water, check for leaks, drain, fill with actual coolant and button up some small things....
Have you checked your fuel pressure and the return line back to the tank. I do not have an RXL but a few 500s. If the pressure is to great or the fuel injectors are not sealing all they way it will leak more fuel and flood out. I cannot remember if the RXL has the same feature as the 500 but if you hold the throttle open more than 60% it shuts off the fuel to the injectors so you can clear it out. There is a test listed in the service manual to test if your injectors are leaking also. Attached is the test for the fuel pressure and the regulator. Good luck and let us know how you do.
Excellent news! I have finally got it to start, idle and run with the exhaust on it.
I tinkered with it quite a bit over the last couple of weeks.
The way it was running just didn't seem right.
I really had no way of testing the injectors themselves, so I took a bit of a gamble. I replaced the injectors with the older ORIGINALS, synced the throttle bodies, changed out the stainless steel fuel filter and adjusted the TSS.
1/4 PULL of the rope and it is now running..
I even got rid of code 12..changed out the old CrankCase Sensor.
Now, I just hope it stays together through the winter.
