Hey all, bummed out. Im pretty sure I blew the turbo on my polaris o8 600 iq lx turbo. Looking on line it would appear that a new turbo is 2000 dollars plus. Anyone know if it is possible to remove the four stroke motor and install a two stroke motor. I think the same sled came with a 600 two stoke as well as the four stoke. Any of you polaris experts have any advice or opinions.
So you had a FST turbo and want to put an IQ 600 in it?
The main problem is the zillions of sensors and the computer that are required to run the EFI sleds. They are as complicated as a car. The 08 did have a 600 2-stroke but the engines are not the same shape, so you will have to locate a mounting plate for the 600. And all the wiring. And an oil bottle.
Finding a good running 600 will be pretty costly as well. There aren't many used ones out there, and a new short block is over 2 grand (US). You may be money ahead fixing the turbo and certainly will have less headaches!
Thanks for your input. It turns out that the turbo is not blown. My mechanic friend thinks that i am getting rad fluid in the oil somehow, and its getting blown into the airbox through the crank vent. I am no mechanic so your input is helpful. Looks like switching the engine is not an option, so i will be fixing the engine. Luckily the turbo is fine which was scary if it was gone. Thanks
Thats another reason why I wont buy a turbo sleds .. I am scare of death of them and when they go bad .. they are very pricey. Thats another reason why I wouldnt buy a 2014 F150 3.5 ecoboost when I opted to go with a 5.0 liter. WL
