94 Polaris 400

Hey all...

I'm new to ATV's, thinking of picking one up for some plowing, yard work, and light off road use. Just started looking and i found someone selling a 1994 polaris 400. He lists it as an xplorer but i couldn't find any info for 94 xplorers so its either a 95 or its the sportsman...right? Anyone have any opinions on this quad? 4x4 isn't working, he says the "side shaft for the front sprocket broke" but everything else on the machine is working/running. He's asking 950, but i thought i may offer 800.

Let me know what you think

Here's the pic, it does look similar but red, but i've seen other red sportsmans without the "sportsman" sticker online. Any info on the quad, worth it?

i suggest that you find out the price of the replacement part and deduct it from his asking price.

Looks like a Polaris Boss, with 4x4. Agreed with the part... The part could be hundreds of bucks. There is a REASON why he has not fixed it.

Thanks for the advice guys, still emailing back and forth. I'm trying to find out the exact part if he knows it. Most of the input/output shafts, on either the boss or sportsman range from 200 to 300 american.

The main reason this caught my eye was the cheap price, and yup there could be a very big reason for it. Most 94's are selling for 2000+ around here.
