Was out walkin' my Weimie today & was passing by a neighbors driveway.....there sat a Manco Go Kart with a sign on it saying it had a bad engine. I approached him & asked if he was selling it or what? He said he just wanted to get rid of it since it had been partially disassembled & they weren't able to get it running.
I quickly took my dog home & came back & pushed the machine home. My wife saw me & asked "Where in heck did you get that & what are you going to do with it??" Told her it was my new project........anyway, I took a quick assessment of the situation & saw it had a 10HP Tecumseh with a Comet torque converter, electric start, head light/taillight, & big azz rear knobby tires It was a little dusty, but nothing a quick powerwash couldn't fix. The drive clutch had been removed as well as the drive chain and all the protective guards & shrouds. There was a garbage bag setting on the seat that had all the missing parts in, PLUS a Tec engine manual, a new engine gasket kit, a brand new #40 drive chain & the original owners manual.
Pulled the plug out to see if it was getting spark; seemed dead at plug electrodes, so I shoved a screwdriver into the wire connector & pulled it over to see if I get a poke.....YUP, I got poked. Yanked a plug out of my mower & tried that....great spark, now!! Sprayed some starting fluid into the carb & gave it a yank...fired right up!! Found the fuel was pretty skunky, so I removed the tank & washed it out, checked the remote fuel pump & cleaned out the carb float bowl; then poured some fresh gas & gave it another yank & now she' purring like a kitten.
Now my next-door neighbor Denny comes over to see what the heck I'm up to & he can't believe what he sees (& hears). He starts laughing at the thought of this other guy not being able to get the kart going.....then he tells me the guy I got it from is a lawyer!!! LOL

Now I don't feel so bad about taking this for nothing!!
So Denny starts helping me put all the parts back on, 'cause he wants to get it running so he can blast by the lawyer's house in the kart he had just given away 2 hours before. This thing runs great!!

There are a few things that I need to fix (brakes, choke linkage, install battery), then this thing is going up on Craig's List....should be worth every penny of $500!!
Yes it was a very good day..........
Pic below is from a Manco website....I'll post some actual ones tomorrow!!
