the yami 450 puts out the most hp, so it can be the fastest. the yami is a better motor, and i love honda.
the 426 is still really fast and i dont know anyone that can use a 450 thumper and rev it up to redline without crashing, thus its usually to much bike for them. in an amatuer race the most hp doesnt win, the better rider does. suspension in any stock machine sucks, so pick the bike you want. i ride a honda trx250x atv and i still beat 450s in hare scrambles, its all rider ability. granted my bike isnt even close to stalk anymore. i dropped 800 bucks on suspension parts over the winter
if it was me i would get the 450r cuz im a honda kid, i would change the front sprocket -1 with any of those bikes unless u wanna go 70 all the time. you cant go wrong with any of these bikes, but if u dont know how to ride get a 250 four stroke

k thnx
At the moment i have a really old YZ125.
I`m kinda partial to yamaha but what ever.
So YZ426 VS YZ450. how much better is the 450 than 426?
what i would really like to do is put lights on one and have it street legal too

the 426 is a real low end torque beast, the 450 likes the upper rpm's better.

if you cant really afford a wr450, the 426 is still a great machine and can easily keep up with cars on the highway with the proper gearing. the bad part about a dual sport is the gearing is for top speed. in the trails u will bog all the time. the cure-get a dual sport but stay off the highway
the 450 puts out 10+???(i think its close to that) more hp. just in case u didnt notice already, hp is how i judge offroad bikes

gearing can easily change the mph, but it will go fast enough to be legal.

banshee sucks, worst quad out there. it takes the best driver in the world to use it on the trails. powerband is so small on it. but if the trail is straight, thats a different story. the banshee used to be raced in the XC quad racing series(GNCC). it only won on tracks with long straights. the trx250r is still the best 2 stroke quad but nothing can touch the new yfz450...
banshee goes 60 mph while my 250x went 53 mph stock. quads arent fast, if you want speed, get a dirtbike. even the 700r raptor cant keep up with 125 2 stroke dirt bike in a drag race. theres a 200 lb weight difference. thats gigantic in a machine thats only 400 lbs. you can change the gearing on quads but since they are so heavy they wont be able to pull a really tall gear ratio.dont get me wrong, the shee will eat my quad alive but its only like 10 bike lengths in a 300 yard drag race.
ive never topped out a dirtbike so idk what there top speed is. im assuming its really fast
when choosing between, think of this; do you have "legal" trails that are wide enough for a quad?my little 250x barely squeezes through mine. Do you have transportation to get ur quad to the trails?when i didnt have a truck, i had to ride down the road to get to some trails, then i got a $50 fine...
Also, which is cheaper? money is the key factor when deciding, dirt bikes are usually cheaper to maintain and run assuming u dont crash
i think there is a kid from maine thats part of SF with a yzf426, hopefully he will read this thread

My trails are ditches, fields and gravel roads. I live in a farming area.
How narrow is the powerband?
What makes the 250R really good, the suspension, handling or engine or what??
thnx for the info

the yzf426 is a little on the heavy side my nieghbor had one and now he has a yzf450 and the 450 will own it. but for the best bike i would have to say a new kawasaki kx450f is the way to go!! but between the yamaha and the handa u should get the handa there sweet.

ur best bet when choosing a new toy is to try them all and pick the one you like, dont go by what anyone tells you. if you do, you might get a bike that someone is saying is better than it really is just cuz they are brand loyal. ive ridden em all and they are all the same. if they wont let u test drive a bike, dont buy it. simple.

Now i am thinking about getting a quad instead of a bike . stupid me, can`t make up my mind.
I think I want a 2 stroke sport quad. In your opinion what the best, quadracer LT500,quadracer LT250, honda 250R or Banshee?
Yah, i would definatly want to ride a machine before i buy it.

the lt500 quadzilla is an animal. you will definately love the power it gives but it vibrates too much to enjoy it. top speed on the quadzila is around 80. jumping a zilla is limited to how much do u wanna get hurt, the stock suspension sucks. but yea its the fastest out there. all the other basicaly go the same, except the shee which of course is a little quicker and faster.
the lt250r quadracer-great bike but cant really compete with the trx250r. well it can in a drag race, but the trx is 5 times more reliable. 2nd best jumping ability but parts arent as readily aviable as the trx.
the trx250r-this bike was the only bike quad racers used up to recently. its that good. everything from enduro, mx, xc, oval, supermotard, hill climbs, should i go on? its fast, quick, light, agile, and the stock motor keeps going and going. chances are though, you wont find an all stock 250r cuz many of them have been raced. so they have all the goodies you will ever need. stock, assuming the riders ability is the same, the trx250r will beat every machine in ur list easily. i could go on all day about this machine, but to prove the engine, honda still runs the same 250 engine in thier dirtbikes. ending now so i can finish, heheh
shee-you said ur trails are straight, the shee or the zilla might be the best to get because of this. its a 350 twin, its got the power to go but it also has the weight. its lighter than the zilla.
heres how they are arranged from lightest to heaviest-trx, lt250r,shee, zilla
topspeed wise, highest to lowest-zilla, shee, trx250r, lt250r
if i could find a good deal on the lt250r i would get that. but if the trx250r was 500 bucks more, i would rather have the honda. 2 stroke quads are cheap now, i have to get back to work now, im working on this guys lt500r that he blew the engine cuz he forgot to premix his gas

I know a guy with a LT500. That he doesn`t use. If i could get that at a good price would it be worth buying it?
I drove a while back and seemed really fast
some guy blew his engine cause he forgot to mix the gas????? thats pretty dumb.
Shee VS Zilla which would be the best in the long run?
thnx for all the info
which has more HP zilla or shee?
i have read that the zilla has a slow revving, low revving engine. thats not true is it? the one i drove seemed to rev fast and quite high.
